Don’t you want to be respected?

Okay, I’ll admit it, that was a click-bate-y title, ha! But, my friends, precisely because our collective answer to that question is “yeah, duh”, I am asking it.

Because why the heck are most of us then putting up with being considered “less than” at work?

Why are we putting up with being paid less than our male colleagues for the same work?

Why do we agree with being overlooked for promotions, so that the top of the corporate world looks decidedly male (and white)?

Why are we cool with doing 2/3 of the household stuff at home, plus all the “mental workload” that wears us down but is necessary as it keeps our families running smoothly?

Why are we asking for 3 – 32 % less salary for the exact same job as guys do?

Why do we always put ourselves last when it comes to, well, evvvvverything?

Honestly, help a girl out here because I. Simply Do. Not. Get. It.

Actually, who am I kidding? Of course I get it. The patriarchy is ruling. The world is (still) run by men, for men. And although we have done our damn best to change things, we’re simply not there yet.

So, I get it.

And I don’t know about you, but being respected less simply because I am a woman, together with all the other consequences that come with that (less money, more work, etc)… it isn’t working for me.

So please do yourself a favour and ask yourself why you should accept anything less than a guy. And if it’s just a matter of “I don’t know how to get what I deserve”, shoot me a message because I do 😊
